EXPRESS SIGHTS, by Z-Hat Custom
![]()
Express
sights are great for hunting rifles. Fast pick up, and classic looks are
two good reasons to choose this style of sights for your next Custom
Rifle.
One, Two, or Three folding leaves are available. We normally recommend the one or two leaf sights, because in practical use you will likely never shoot far enough with these sights to warrant the use of a third folding leaf. We can mount your Express Sights in a base on the barrel, or in a Quarter Rib.
The "Professional" sight shown above allows for easy windage adjustment, and locks the sight down tight so it will not move unexpectedly. This sight is also available with various numbers of folding leaves.
Express Sights are labor intensive. They require hand
fitting, and are regulated for the clients chosen load. We prepare for a
trip to the range for final fitting by "rough" filing the sights in
the shop first. While at the range we test fire the rifle and then file
the sights to match the load. It is possible to use alternate loads by changing
the front sight, more on this below.

An
alternative to the classic Express Sight is the "Masterpiece" adjustable
rear sight. All steel construction, it has built in windage and elevation
adjustments. This not only saves you the cost of hand fitting the sights,
it allows you to change your loads with a minimum of fuss.

Banded Ramp Front Sights

Express
Sights deserve a partner that is as classic and durable as they are.
Banded Ramp front sights are useful for their tuff design, good looks, and the
ability to
quickly change the front sight. There are five styles of front sight
inserts that we offer. Some have limited application, depending on available sight heights.
By far the most durable front sight is the Patirdge or
Sourdough pattern (S3).
These sights can also be filed to match a wider
variety of loads, unlike the bead type sights which are limited to available
heights.
