Fred Zeglin, Owner of Z-Hat Custom & 4D Reamer Rentals
Fred has designed a line of successful wildcats, "Hawk Cartridges." Along with many cartridges for clients. He is also the author of a 287 page book, Wildcat Cartridges, "The Reloaders Guide to Wildcat Cartridge Design."
Zeglin
designed his own reloading dies to speed delivery of wildcat projects to
the client and provide greater accuracy. He uses a combination of
tried and true technology with modern materials and principals to produce the
best possible dies and rifles for his clients.
He has designed and produced several new specialty tools for wildcatting and
accurate reloading of ammunition, as well as reviving some old designs that
perform useful functions. New materials have been developed just for this
class as well.
Prerequisite:
Working knowledge of machine shop, mainly lathe operation.
Class Content:
The process of designing and testing a wildcat cartridge will be covered in detail. Tool design, simple tools for experimenting and testing new cartridge designs. Specialized tooling and reloading dies will be constructed in class.
Each student will fabricate tools, form
& trim dies, and form brass for their cartridge in class. Time
permitting we will test the wildcats in class.
